Painting My Mac to Death

Yesterday I had quite the day.  Some of my friends already know this but I thought, why not share it with you all.  At the very least you can either laugh at me, or laugh with me.

Here’s what happened…

I was watching a friends video about “Wet Paint” and there wasn’t any paint in the video. So I thought it would be fun to do a video with real paint.

Well, let’s just say that rather than the paint ending up on camera, it ended up on my laptop covering the whole keyboard.

Yup, a big mess of purple paint all over my keyboard. Soooo….

My Macbook is officially dead.  I called Apple and then went to a local Apple store and the good news is that the hard drive is fine.

The bad news is that it would cost me about 750.00 for them to even begin attempting to clean up all the paint that is inside my computer.

 So what’s a girl to do…

Buy a brand new Mac.  I figure it’s time anyway, and I’ve got the money.  So it’s not that big of a deal…

However, it comes along at a time when it’s not convenient.

So if you care to offer an opinion, what Mac laptop should I get?

 - MacBook Air

 - MacBook Pro

 - Basic MacBook (that is what I had)

I’d love your counsel.  So speak away.

New Interviews this Week

Today I thought I would give you a heads up on who I am interviewing later this week.

First, I have a show lined up with Phil Lawler who is the Editor of Catholic World News and has written the book The Faithful Departed.

Then I will have to honor of interviewing Jonathan Wells who is the coauthor of the book The Design of Life which is a great textbook like book that explains Intelligent Design.  This book is also coauthored by William Dembski, and so this will be a great conversation about the truth about how we got here.

In the Design of Life interview one of the things I plan on asking Mr. Wells is about what he thinks of some of the evolutionary ideas in A New Earth by Tolle.  I have a few passages I will read him, and it shall be interesting to get his response.

And speaking of Tolle, I was right, by simply writing about that yesterday my traffic increased four times.  I think that says something about the thirst for God.

A New Earth Increasing Stats

Well, today has been interesting especially as I have watched the statistics on my ACM blog go through the roof the last few days.  I started noticing on Saturday that my blog was becoming more read and wondering what had happened.  So after a quick look at my stats in sitemeter and then adding my stats counter code again, I found that I’ve been getting a zillion visits because people are looking for a Christian perspective on A New Earth by Tolle.

Here are a few of the Google searches that have come through…disregard the other search phrases, but look at all the interest in this book.  I’m finding this AMAZING…

a new earth
drill down 4 5.80% oprah a new earth
drill down 3 4.35% christian view on a new earth

drill down 1 1.45% christian reviews a new earth
drill down 1 1.45% a new earth new age
drill down 1 1.45%

Not only that but it speaks to me of the interest in whether or not Oprah is a Christian and if Tolle is a Christian.

Another interesting thing that happened today in regards to this is that some woman named Stephanie emailed me about the Oprah event and gave me access to some behind the scenes web materials and stats on the upcoming web event that Oprah is hosting with Tolle.

As of the time of this blog entry there are 380,000 people signed up for this free class and the class continues to grow.

And here are some stats as of February 21st regarding Oprah and the book.

  • 3.6 million books in print
  • Fastest selling book club book ever
  • 386K have already signed up for the Web Event
  • 1,000+ Reading Groups have started on Oprah.com
  • Debuted on the New York Times “Advice, How-To” bestseller list at #1

What all of this tells me is that this is a great opportunity for bible believing Christ followers to roll up their sleeves, do their homework and learn about this New Age teaching that is taking the world by storm.  It’s time to study the bible and compare what that says, with the lies Tolle and Oprah are promoting and get to work.   That’s what I’m doing and I hope a few other bible believing Christ followers join me.  Since there is a ton of interest, now is the time to act.

And I suspect that as a result of this post, the stats on this blog will also skyrocket.  I’ll let you know what happens.

An Interview with Connie Grigsby

This morning I already completed my first interview with author Connie Grigsby concerning a book she coauthored with Nancy Cobb called How to Get Your Husband to Listen to You.

This is a great book that covers some basics about relationships problems between a husband and a wife. I highly recommend this book and I also want you to know that Connie and Nancy wrote it so that even unbelievers can read it and learn great biblical principles, without feeling like they are being preached at.

Connie was a delight to interview, she was knowledgeable, sensitive and a warm guest.

Now on to prep for my next interview.

Welcome to Behind the Scenes with Stacy

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to take a few minutes and welcome you to my new blog that is designed to be more personal and to share with you some of the things that happen here at Active Christian Media behind the scenes.

I welcome your comments and suggestions and feedback on our podcasts and blog, which incidentally, YOU are the first to know…will be completely redesigned in the coming weeks (or months) depending on how things go.

I plan on sharing with you some of our upcoming interviews we have planned as well as some of the books and products I receive daily that I may not get the time to promote as fast as I can.

Today for example, I not only had a great conversation with John Douglas who founded Grand Design Productions, but I also received a few great books from Spence Publishing that I will tell you about tomorrow.  I already have interviews lined up with these authors, so you’ll want to come back and hear them.

Speaking of doing interviews, today I did something that I rarely, if ever, have done to date.  I actually called John LATE for our interview.  Normally when an interview is booked I receive a confirmation of the interview, and lately I have had so many people book interviews and most of them were the guest calling me, that I simply assumed it was that way with John.  But after waiting for five minutes and not hearing from John, I quickly decided to recheck  my email confirmation and found out that I was supposed to have called him.  So I did as fast as I could, and quickly apologized for my error.

Thankfully, since my show isn’t a LIVE show (yet), and we have some grace with podcasting, and the fact that John was very gracious, the show went on.  And we actually had an extended interview because John was so passionate about his product and discussing violence and video games that I couldn’t stop him.

It was pretty great, and I hope you do take the time to listen to the show.  Here’s a link if you’d like to.

Tomorrow I’ll share with you some of the new books I’ve received and also tell you who I’ve interviewed, because I have two guests I’m very excited to talk to for tomorrows show.

Thanks for stopping by, and please tell your friends.

Please also subscribe to our show via iTunes by clicking here!

See you tomorrow!
