Chest Size: Feels too big

Sleeve Length: Feels too long

Pros: Comfortable, Warm, Durable, Stylish

Best Uses: Cold Weather, Casual Wear, Going Out

Describe Yourself: Comfort-oriented, Practical

I LOVE this sweater and take it with me wherever I go. I will probably buy another one in another color because I like it so much.

As to the rating above, I rated feels too big and sleeves are too long because I got a size bigger than me. So that doesn’t have anything to do with the product. If I had ordered a smaller size, I’m sure it would’ve fit perfectly.

I Really Love My Pastor & His Wife

…but not enough to tell you who they are. :) Some things shouldn’t be announced on a public forum, lest the enemies of the cross attempt to disrupt my church service. (Not that that would happen, but you never know what loons out there take their obsessive personalities too far, as I have had some wackos call me and leave nasty messages due to my biblical stance on homosexuality)

Anyway, all that to say, that I really do appreciate my pastor and his wife because they really do serve the Lord with joy and gladness. In fact, one of the things I appreciate about them is that they are both mature and strong in their faith and they appreciate everyone.

Today my pastor started a sermon series on the biblical family. He used the passage out of Ephesians 5:18-21 as his main text. It reads…

Eph 5:18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,
Eph 5:19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord;
Eph 5:20 always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father;
Eph 5:21 and be subject to one another in the fear of Christ.

The gist of his sermon was this. The reason that so many families, including many in the church, suffer from problems like divorce, sexual abuse, homosexuality, anger, resentment, and many other things, is because these families are first and foremost not filled with the Holy Spirit. In other words, the people claiming to be followers of Jesus Christ, are not yet saved.

This makes total sense to me, especially in some of the work that I do. And I have been in the ministry and church long enough to see couples divorce who attended church services, but really didn’t know the Lord.

My pastor’s second point was that we should be thankful in our hearts with praises to God. Which reminds me of another pastor friend that I had years ago when I attended a Vineyard Church. This guy was the most thankful man I’ve ever met in my life. In fact, to this day, I don’t think I’ve met anyone else that displays the same joy of spirit and thankfulness that Dave displayed.

And so to have a healthy and happy family in the Lord, we need to be thankful. One thing I personally try to do daily, and sometimes even every hour, is to simply thank the Lord for all that He has given me. Even today, I joined with two dear sisters and prayed for the first service and one of the things we prayed for was the service of the Ushers. I admitted right then that I had never thanked God for the services of the Ushers in my whole life. (Yes, sad but true) So today, I learned that I still have more opportunity to grow and thank God for all things and make a merry melody in my heart to Him.

The third point was to be thankful. I kind of covered that already. :)

The last point in the sermon was that we need to be submissive to one another. I really appreciated this point because I often hear women who don’t know the Word of God say things like “I’m not submitting to my husband or any man!” when in reality that’s not what that verse was talking about. In fact, my hunch is that it will probably come in next weeks sermon.

The point of verse 21 is that all believers need to be subject to one another. We need to respect one another and realize that we are all equal at the foot of the cross. Once I can get my new Logos bible software fully installed, I will share more about this.

In fact, I decided today to buy my pastor and his wife a copy of the software because I want to encourage them in their ministries. I can’t wait for it to arrive so they can enjoy their bible study even more.

And on a final note, all I can say is that the Lord is so good to us. Especially here in America where we still have freedom of speech and freedom of worship. May we all redeem the time for the days are evil.

My Logos Software Arrived Today :)

Yesterday I wrote about ordering this new bible software (new to me anyway) called Logos Scholar and today it came in my mail! That was relatively quick delivery, so I’m happy about that. I immediately installed it on my husbands PC and then I installed what I could on my Mac using their Alpha Release 2. I think I’m going to still have to install Parallel, which I haven’t received yet, and then also the Microsoft platform before I will get full functionality, and I can’t wait. I’m hoping that I will have everything by the end of next week.

I would like to thank Phil Gons who works at Logos for commenting on my blog here (even though I accidentally deleted it) and letting me know about the Mac Alpha Release. After checking out Phil’s blog, I had to tell you all about it so you can see what a biblical scholar’s blog looks like.

Phil actually has some pretty cool things on his site, such as this Accountability Worksheet which I think is a great tool for prayer partners and accountability partners. There’s also a lot of other cool information over at Phil’s blog too, so please check it out.

My Cat Has Diabetes

You may recall that last week I took my cat in to the vet because he had been losing weight.  Well, it turns out that Boswell, my cat, has feline diabetes.  When I saw the vet earlier this week he showed me his blood results and his glucose level was 654!  The normal range, in case you’re wondering is between 90-100, so it’s no wonder my cat isn’t doing well.

My vet gave me some prescription cat food which is very high in protein so that we can see if that will fix Boswell.  We’re going to try that for a week and then see if his blood has changed.  If not, then I’ll have to give him shots.

So there, now you know.  This I can say for sure, I love my cat dearly, and will take care of him until I have to bury him.

Logos, Paul Washer and More

It’s FRIDAY! :)

This has been a very good week for me as I have had numerous opportunities to work, hear the word of God and study the bible in my quiet times. One thing I was doing this morning is taking in a few sermons given by Paul Washer. This man is a great preacher and teacher. In fact, I could spend all day today listening to all of his sermons if I had the time. But I don’t…which is a bummer.

If you really want to hear a few sermons that are actually biblical and convicting, click here to visit HeartCry Ministries and download Paul’s podcast feed. I listened to a sermon last night entitled “Examine yourselves” – and it was by far just about the best message I have heard in at least a decade.

In fact, as I have contemplated the message and thought about American Christianity….or rather Christianity in America, and especially the Christian publishing industry, it’s quite amazing to consider that most of the books put out are all relatively self help books. The books are really more about us, than Jesus. Few of the books are theological in nature, and few offer any deep biblical substance.

I think this is why some really enjoy reading the old time preachers and also enjoy reading and singing hymns. I have to admit that this past Easter Sunday was interesting for me, because it was the first time I can remember ever attending a service where there was not one hymn sung. I really missed singing “Up from the grave He Arose…” but apparently hymns aren’t the “in” thing in my church these days. Yet the hymns are so rich theologically. In fact, it was funny to meet this elderly lady on Sunday and watch her as she sat through the relatively loud rock praise service. I am wondering if she’ll be back this Sunday.

Anyway, that aside I also wanted to tell you about my recent purchase of Logos Bible Software. I was watching Kay Arthur’s podcast “Precepts for Life” and she had a three day discussion about Logos Bible Software and so I checked it out. When I say that you could get a 25% discount on any of the packages I did a search online first to see if I could get it cheaper, and when I found that I couldn’t, I bought the Logos Bible Software Scholar edition. It was only about $515.00 which isn’t a bad investment over a lifetime, and then I had to buy some Parallel software so I can use it on my Mac. Then I have to install a version of MS Word so that I can use it. So it will probably cost me a few hundred more before all is said and done, which as I said earlier, is not too bad considering it’s a lifetime investment.

Which brings me to one of the reasons I got the software – I’m doing a word study on a fascinating topic, which I will reveal later. Needless to say, it’s FASCINATING.

I’ll be back later with more info on this subject.

Back from the Vet

boswell.jpg

A few hours ago I got home from the vet and only spent 439.00 on my cat. What for you may wonder…

Well, my cat is almost 15 and for the last few months I have noticed him losing weight. So I took him in and the vet had to do x-rays, blood work, and stool analyzing. Turns out my baby was royally constipated and they had to flush him out. I’m pretty sure that wasn’t a pleasant sight.

And of course, when I went to pick him up a few hours later the vet assistant told me that he had been throwing a hissy fit. (Get it…”hissy” fit) My cat rarely hisses, unless it’s to walk by the dogs and let them know that he is the boss.

Plus I also was given some liquid vitamin thing to give to the cat and now he’s resting here at home.

And my vet, well, let’s just say he’s raking in the bucks. But he’s a great vet and has been my vet for almost 18 years.

Monday I shall find out if the blood work shows anything abnormal…and the vet also said his kidneys didn’t look good either. My poor baby. :(

At LAST…A New Earth Homework

Okay, it’s been quite some time since I updated this blog because for some unknown reason to me, I couldn’t figure out how to get back into WordPress, until last night.

So…thanks for the patience and comments new buddies and pals.

First, let me share with you about A New Earth and where we are with that. I have been a little annoyed because one of Oprah’s people did email me about doing a discussion, only to apparently “take it back” and never respond to my affirming email. The only thing I can figure is that they must have actually read my blog this time and realized that I was exposing the false teachings of Eckhart Tolle. And for the life of me, I cannot understand why so many people think this mans writing is good. I think it’s weird, to be honest with you….and my husband thinks it’s drug induced.

Anyway, as I have forced myself to sit through some of Oprah’s classes I have to tell you that I HAD to take a break from all this gobblygooky talk because it was nauseating to me. As some of you know, I have a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology, so I’ve been educated about the mind, and so to hear Eckhart talk about the “egoist” and “ego” the way he is spinning it is rather annoying. And lest some of you Oprah worshippers think I’m attacking her or Tolle, I’m not. It’s the hellish ideas that I don’t like.

I honestly think that Oprah is seriously deceived and because she is a sinner who apparently has not repented of her sin, she has not the eyes to see the truth. But the scary thing is that she is taking millions of other blinded people with her on the path to eternal destruction.

So…all that to say that I’m working on finishing my review and also watching the webcasts that Oprah has done.

Please pray for Oprah and all of those who are believing this new age teaching. Thanks friends.
