Wow…did you read that blog post headline? Well, it’s true. Today I received an email from one of Oprah’s staff who is interested in having me be a host for their discussions. The reason why of course, is because of the diverse opinion this whole thing is bringing. But here’s the deal…”the behind the scenes thing going on here at ACM” – I think this “new earth” stuff is just a bunch of hooey. It’s totally “New Age” and not compatible with Christ or Christianity.
Today I spent part of my day watching the video podcast of the show on Monday night, and all I can tell you is that Oprah is sorely deceived, and my impression of Tolle is not positive. But even worse than all of this, is the fact that in the “program” the other night the people who were asking questions of these two, in some cases claimed to be “Christians”.
Now I don’t know these people or what they truly believe, but what I do know is that the contents of this book are anything but Christian. In fact, think about this for a minute…
One of the things Tolle espouses is that we should “not label” things. Supposedly if we “don’t label” things that will open us up to be able to experience the universe the way it really is. Well, I had a thought about the idea of labeling and it was this…
What was one of the first jobs that God (the real God of the bible is who I am talking about) gave to Adam. (The first man created by the real God of the bible) – One of the first jobs was that Adam was supposed to “label” things. That’s what Adam did – he NAMED them. In other words, he gave them a label.
Why are labels important? Easy – because it helps us to identify what they are. Yet when I consider not only how this new age teaching is being worked and the idea of not labeling things, as if that’s really sane in the first place, it just makes me wonder at the tricks of the enemy.
Consider this – God had Adam label things. Satan wants to rename or unlabel things. Don’t believe me – look at the debate over marriage. God created man and woman and created marriage. Satan wants to redefine (relabel) marriage. Satan wants to undermine what God made correctly. Satan wants people to open their minds to any and everything except what God says is true, especially about Jesus.
And there is so much more about this that I will share with you. But for now, consider the idea that not labeling something so that you can “get in touch” with whatever you want to call god is an idea straight from the pit of hell.
Remember what St. Paul said in the second letter to the Corinthians 11:3 -
But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ.
Do not be led astray by vain and empty philosophies.
